2016

Thursday 10th March 2016 - It has truly been with great sadness that yesterday I learnt about the death of my friend and bandmate John Hutchinson. John passed away in his sleep and leaves behind a loving family and a wealth of friends and acquaintances. A fantastic guitarist who was, amongst many many positive things such an adaptable and skilful performer. I've never heard anyone play Matchbox by Carl Perkins and Mystery Train by Junior Parker as well as John. You were always too modest John, one of your many endearing qualities.

John, from myself, Tony and Roger, thank you for the laughs we have all shared in Memory Lane and thank you for being part of the band. You have left all of us with fond fond memories, something which will never dissipate.

John you will be missed.

2015

On Friday 12th June 2015 Memory Lane will be playing in a fund raiser for the cardiac unit at Castle Hill Hospital. The gig will take place at The New Cleveland Club in Hull. Taking part along with Memory Lane is RIO, a young lady who is just eleven years old with a fabulous voice. We also have the incomparable Bobby Diamond who will be our compere for the evening. Tickets are just £2 and you can get them from any of the band members or at The New Cleveland Club itself. Doors open at 7 PM and the show starts at approximately 8:45 PM. Thanks for the support!

2014

With the departure of Memory Lane's lead guitarist Steve Trice, we now welcome John Hutchinson to the group. John has a wealth of experience and we are looking forward to working together in order to bring our audience some much needed Rock & Roll TLC! We would all like to wish Steve well and if I may say it has been a pleasure playing with Steve.

Gigs are still booked and will start again in March of 2015.

'Memory' Lane featured in Buddy Holly article - The evening of March 19th 1958 at ‘The Regal’ in Hull featured a concert by the one and only Buddy Holly. You can click the link below to see an article about his gig and how 'Memory Lane' will be honoring this occasion by playing two local gigs in mid March in the Hull area (article dated 6th March 2013):

'Memory Lane': Rock n Roll group - Really pleased to say that I'm now the full time drummer with the fantastic Rock n Roll group 'Memory Lane'. Whilst working with a select few agencies, the group are based in Hull but gigging all over the country. We've already racked up a number of gigs for 2013, both private functions and gigs for the public. Really pleased to be working with three highly skilled musicians who have been playing for upwards of fifty years!

'Memory Lane' comprise of an award winning vocalist, a top lead guitarist and a multi-talented bass player. A four piece 50’s and 60’s Rock n Roll group who cover the likes of: Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Bill Haley, Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Fury and many, many more. Not to mention specialising in a tribute to the great Buddy Holly thanks to our frontman!

We are due to record a full ten track album in January/February 2013 along with a video. Pictures and website details to come soon!

Fado Rock update - Monday 19th November saw the last night of over-dubs and certain tweaks to our new ten track album. Mixed by our guitarist Spike, it's sounding great. Hoping to release it Spring 2013..........

Into the Valley 2011 Fest - So, last night (30th April) myself and the guys from Fado Rock played the main stage at this years 'Into the Valley' MAG festival. It was simply unbelievable. On behalf of myself and every member of the band; huge, huge thanks to everyone who came and watched us perform. Over 3,000 odd tickets sold and 2,000 people watching us and singing. We played a 75 minute set and our reception was unreal considering it was not even a music festival. Our thanks again! To everyone.

March

RIP Joe Morello - The death of legendary Jazz drummer Joe Morello was announced on the 12th of March and came as a big shock to many of us. Joe was a true jazz legend who inspired me to play solos in a melodic, delicate, yet powerful way and taught me to cross over the beat more and more. Immeasurable thanks Joe, you left a legacy to all drummers.

If you're not familiar with Joe's work; check his videos out on Youtube and let his work live on.

January

Officially on the Regal Tip drumstick website! - That's right! I have officially been listed on the 'Regal Tip' Artist Roster page. It's fantastic to be listed on the same page as drummers: Alex Van Halen, Max Weinburg (of Bruce Springsteen), Chester Thompson (of Genesis) and Joey Waronker (of REM)

Session work tracks - Received word the other day that my session work tracks working with Simon Humphrey and producer Ken Thomas of 'Sigur Ros' and recent 'Moby' fame are fully mixed and are on their way up the country! Snippets of the tracks are soon to be uploaded onto the 'Audio/Visual' page for you to listen to!

As you may know... - Recording has begun for the new ten track Fado Rock album! We're back in the studio mid January to lay down the guitars with John Spence! Remember; Anybody who would like a FREE copy of our 2008 EP 'Six Feet South' can: e-mail, text or ring me and I'll send you a copy!

GOSH Drummers press article #2 – As an update to the 'Drumathon event, the GOSH Drummers were featured on page seven of the Pocklington Post today (12th August). I would basically like to reiterate what was said in the article on here:

The five of us raised the handsome sum of over £1,000 which surpassed all of our expectations and we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored us and supported the idea and the event itself. Huge thanks go to Lisa Brown design, Craig Hall, The Market Weighton School, members of the 'Weighton Waytes’ Choir and staff at P&O ferries Hull, both for their sponsorship.

Special thanks go to Steve Langley for giving up his time and working on a fantastic photo shoot with us and also, special thanks to the committee and staff of The Market Weighton Community Shop for their generous donation.

The GOSH Drummers would like to express our thanks to all of the above people and it truly is fantastic to see so many people get behind our idea and support us in order to raise money for The Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Thank You

July

GOSH Drummers press article #1 – On the 8th July 2010 the GOSH Drummers were featured in the weekly issue of the Pocklington Post (pictured below).

The event is drawing closer and myself and the guys have been doing what we can to promote the event in the hopes that we can get sponsors and donations for the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

Our two hour ‘Drumathon’ will take place on Wednesday 14th July at The Market Weighton School. It will commence at 4:30 and finish (providing we have enough energy to complete the two hours!) at 6:30. We’re ending half an hour before the School concert begins and we’re basically saying to people feel free to drop in and see what we’re up to!

Additionally, as stated in the article; we have been approached by certain schools and summer festivals around the UK to see if we wanted to take our group to the specified venue and perform there, still for Great Ormond Street Hospital. So, this certainly won't be the last time you see us.......without doubt................

On behalf of all the GOSH Drummers: Thank you to everyone for your on-going interest, support and donations so far. You can still sponsor us at: www.justgiving.co.uk/goshdrummers or follow the instructions in the June news feed below.

It's been fantastic to see such a good response from people! CHEERS! X

May

- Introducing the 'GOSH Drummers' Event – This event is to take place in mid July. Half a dozen local, Market Weighton-based drummers will be collaborating and drumming for charity. Similar to a mini-marathon we’ll be drumming in unison, taking solos and perhaps generating a bit of showmanship for a two hour stint. The event is to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Age-wise, the six of us range from sixteen through to twenty-three and will all be spreading the word nearer the time with sponsor forms on Social Networking sites, the likes of: Facebook and Twitter! Keep your eyes peeled for this one, there’s some great drummers joining together and it's for a great charity organisation!

- Recent testimonials – Check out any recent testimonials on the website's homepage! I've been fortunate enough to get a fantastic testimonial from RHYTHM Magazine!

"Dave Possesses great technique that would be an asset to any band. Just check out the tracks on this very site. He deserves to go far."
